Update: Police Capture Dangerous Fugitive

Daniel Claude Banks captured Thursday.

Update: Friday, June, 28: A wanted and presumed dangerous fugitive who threatened authorities he would not be taken alive was captured late Thursday afternoon, according to the Fountain Inn Police Department.

Daniel Claude Banks, 28, was captured at 3:48 p.m. by authorities. Details of his arrest have not yet been released.

Banks was for Assault & Battery 1st degree, 2 counts of Assault and Battery 3rd degree, and 1 count of Unlawful use of Telephone, police said.

Original story: A fugitive that has stated "he would die before going back to jail," is on the loose and wanted by Fountain Inn Police.

Daniel Claude Banks, 28, a white male, listed as 6 feet 2 inches and weighing 170 pounds, is wanted for Assault & Battery 1st degree, 2 counts of Assault and Battery 3rd degree, and 1 count of Unlawful use of Telephone, police said.

Police said to use caution.

"Daniel stated to a Police Officer with this agency that he would not go back to jail, and further made threats to Law Enforcement that he would die before going back to jail," a police bulletin warned.

Police said they believed Banks, who has no known address, may be staying at various motels in the area.

Banks has an extensive criminal record that goes back to 2003. He is currently wanted for accosting and attacking a man, slamming his head against a car and also fondling him, according to warrants. He also is accused of phoning the victim and threatening him.
