• Socastee water plant must address contamination from forever chemicals, suit says (myrtlebeachonline.com) — Residents should know a planned Socastee water treatment plant may face extra costs and design changes to deal with PFAS “forever chemicals” in the local waterway. Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority is suing three upstate industrial companies, alleging their past discharges contaminated rivers that feed the Waccamaw and Intracoastal near Socastee. The authority wants compensation and court-ordered cleanup.
