BOOM! Cannons, Muskets Fire at Colonial Dorchester
Summerville event is Saturday at colonial Dorchester State Historic Site on Dorchester Road.

Re-enactors in 18th century costumes will fire cannons and muskets during Lowcountry Colonial Days at Colonial Dorchester State Historic Site on Saturday, March 2.
In addition to the cannon and musket demonstrations, scheduled activities include military drills, blacksmithing demonstrations, and a period medical practitioner, and archaeological and historic site tours. The celebration is a joint venture of the S.C. State Park Service, The Powder Magazine of Charleston, Sequoyah Birthplace Museum, Fort Loudoun State Park in Tennessee, and local volunteers.

Events are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and there is a $5 fee for ages 15 and up and $1 for children under 15. Β Β
Due to the loud nature of musket and cannon demonstrations, visitors are asked to leave pets at home.

Colonial Dorchester is an archaeological treasure that rests on the site of Dorchester, a trading town that flourished along the Ashley River inland from Charleston from 1697 through the Revolutionary War.
