Chamber Awards Student Scholarships
Chamber presents $1,000 scholarships to three high school seniors.

The Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce through a partnership with Robert Bosch LLC three high school seniors were presented $1,000 scholarships this year to attend an accredited two-year state technical college. One qualified high school student is awarded the scholarship each year from Dorchester District Two and Four.
The Chamber’s Workforce Development Committee focuses on several areas when deciding on recipients for the scholarship program including academics, need, school, community and civic involvement, work ethic and college ability. Thescholarships began in 2007 in Dorchester School District Two at Fort Dorchester High School, in 2008 at Summerville High School, followed in 2009 at both high schools and Woodland High School in Dorchester School District Four. Ashley Ridge High School was added with the first graduating class in 2011.
Rhiannon Williams, an Ashley Ridge High School student who plans to attend Tri-County Technical College in Pendleton, SC, was one of the three scholarshiprecipients and was recognized during the Chamber’s Board of Directors May meeting. Rhiannon will participate in the bridge program at Clemson where she plans to study Veterinary Science. Scholarships were also presented to Jessica Goodwin from Woodland High School who plans to attend Trident Technical College and major in Cartoon Animation and Brendan Giberson from Summerville High School who will attend Tri-County Technical College for a year and then Clemson to study Engineering.
