Coroner: Ridgeville Man Fatally Shot Outside Home

Jimmy Edwards was found outside a Ridgeville home just before 11 p.m. Friday with a gunshot wound to the eye.

Law enforcement officials are investigating an apparent homicide in Ridgeville Friday night.

Dorchester County Coroner Christopher Nisbet said 64-year-old Jimmy Edwards of 374 Ridge Road died of a fatal gunshot wound between the hours of 10:30 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. Friday night.

According to release from the coroner's office, Edwards' family says the man was on his way home when they heard two gun shots outside around 10:50 p.m.

Family members found him on the ground in the yard a short time later.

Nisbet says the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the eye.

An autopsy is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
