County Looks to Fund Retiree Health Insurance

Dorchester County Council has committed to fund health insurance for retirees until they're eligible for Medicare, the Journal Scene reported.

Previously, this benefit was cut for 70 percent of the county's workforce, as County Council limited it to only future retirees with 10 years of service as of Jan. 1, 2012. While that was touted as a big cost-cutting measure, the new commitment would cost less than $200,000, the Journal Scene reported.
