County Makes 3rd Attempt at Tackling Rural Zoning

Zoning would try to establish economic development zones and offer voluntary agricultural districts to existing farms.

For the third time in three years, Dorchester County Council will again address rural zoning, the Post and Courier reported.

The publication reported a county committee recommended these types of zoning, which will be addressed next council meeting:

To establish economic development zones emphasizing business and industrial in small nodes of the rural community where businesses or industries already exist.Β To offer voluntary agricultural districts to existing farms as a method of protecting the farmland as adjoining land is developed.

In 2011 and early 2012, county council addressed rural zoning in a series of workshops. However, some residents expressed concern that the zoning would take away rights from landowners and was a part of a larger conspiracy related to United Nation's Agenda 21.Β
