Diverting Sewage from Knightsville/Jedburg on County Agenda

Dorchester County Council's Monday agenda includes approval of a plan to divert Ridgeville sewage away from Knightsville and Jedburg area to free up capacity.

Dorchester County Council will consider approval of use of sewer impact fees to divert sewage away from the Knightsville and Jedburg area to free up capacity.

Council meets 7 p.m. Monday for its regular meeting of council at its Summerville chambers at 500 N. Main St.Β 

Last County Council meeting, residents in the Knightsville/Jedburg area complained of sewage overflows in their community off of Butternut Road. The county's plan would divert sewage currently being directed there from Ridgeville to pump station 120.Β

Only one reading is needed for approval of the project.Β

  • Second reading of an ordinance amending zoning and land development standards to allow accessory structures totalling 3,000 square feet in total for residential lots between 1 and 3 acres. The previous allowance was 1,500 square feet.Β 
  • Request for approval for funding Dorchester County Economic Development's website development, search engine optimization, social media strategy, branding and digital communications strategy.
  • Transfering overage money from delinquent tax sales to the general fund.Β
