First Nexton Building Breaks Ground Wednesday
Building is the first of the 4,500 master planned community between Summerville and Goose Creek.

MeadWestvaco Corp. and the Rockefeller Group will breakground on its first building of the masterplanned community called Nexton, which is near the intersection Interstate 26 and Highway 17-A.
The groundbreaking is 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.Β
The building will be the first in the 4,500-acre master planned community. A portion of the office space will house MWV Community Development and Land Management, while the remaining office space will be available for lease.

The 100,000-square-foot building is designed to achieve LEED certification and will be situated Β at the entry point of the Β Class A campus that will include offices, hotels, apartments, parks and trails, and many choices for dining, entertainment and shopping. Β The four-story building will feature contemporary design, LED external lighting and native plants in the landscaping. High-efficiency vehicle spaces in prime locations will be provided along with bike racks to encourage alternative modes of transportation. Β
Summerville Mayor Bill Collins andΒ Berkeley County Supervisor Dan Davis will be at the event.
