Homicide Suspect Surrenders, Hospitalized with Injuries

North Charleston man charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

A man wanted for a Johns Island fatal shooting surrendered to authorities early Sunday morning, and has been hospitalized with injuries of his own.

Timothy Wright of North Charleston has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Wright sparked a manhunt Saturday after authorities say he fatally shot a woman and led police in a vehicle pursuit, ultimately fleeing on foot.Β

Wright surrendered 1 a.m. Sunday on Johns Island, near where he was last seen. Authorities say Wright is expected to be hospitalized for a few days, delaying a bond hearing, for injuries. It is unknown if the injuries occurred during the shooting incident or during the flight from deputies, authorities say. A statement from law enforcement says the injuries did not occur as the result of interaction with deputies.Β
