β€œEight years ago, Charleston was ranked among the most expensive markets in the country for air travel.Β  This was a big issue impacting the business community and our members asked us to help do something about it.Β  We formed our partnership with the Charleston County Aviation Authority, Charleston Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and Charleston Regional Development Alliance and went to work.Β  We successfully attracted Southwest to our market two years ago and are very excited to now welcome JetBlue. JetBlue is a value-driven airline that will provide new, direct service to both New York and Boston, two of our most traveled markets,” said Bryan Derreberry, President and CEO, Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce.

The partners air development effort also worked to attract Southwest Airlines to the market two years ago.Β  The partners continue to work to expand existing service and attract additional carriers to the area.
