Man Pleaded Guilty to Voluntary Manslaughter
Jontae Davis pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and armed robbery hours before his trial was set to begin.
The co-defendent in the trial for the murder of Maraleius Birdsong has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and armed robbery, the Post and Courier reported.
Jontae Davis, 18, of Charleston pleaded guilty to the lesser charges Tuesday morning, prior to the start of the trial. His sentence will be determined Tuesday afternoon.
Opening arguments for Stephawn Brown, 19, of Charleston have begun. Brown is charged with murder and armed robbery.
