Safety complex clears preliminary review, moves toward final design (postandcourier.com) — Summerville’s $47.5 million Public Safety Campus has cleared preliminary design review, moving a major consolidation of police, fire, and municipal court services closer to reality on West 2nd North Street. Design tweaks on brick style, landscaping, lighting, and sustainability are still required, while police operations temporarily run from the Cedar Street annex until the planned July 2027 opening.

Berkeley County Sheriff's Office Arrests Teen After 100‑mph Chase (berkeleyobserver.com) — A high-speed chase exceeding 100 mph passed through Summerville after a traffic stop near Nexton Parkway, before ending on Highway 78 in North Charleston. Berkeley County deputies arrested an 18-year-old North Charleston man and say they’ll keep cracking down on dangerous street racing and reckless driving to protect local drivers and first responders.

Young Summerville team working to put pieces together (postandcourier.com) — Summerville High’s girls basketball team is rebuilding this season with a very young roster that includes more eighth-graders than seniors. Coach Calvin Davis says returning leaders and energetic newcomers are still learning their roles, but believes the Green Wave can grow into a formidable contender after last year’s deep state playoff run.
