Summerville Teen Charged with Reckless Homicide

Shaylynn Nichole Capers faces two counts of reckless homicide, and additional charges from Hanahan Police; bond set at $600,000.

The 17-year-old Summerville driver that allegedly attempted to elude authorities and ended up in a fatal wreck that killed two of the four occupants in the vehicle has been charged with two counts of reckless homicide.

According to ABC News 4, S.C. Highway Patrol charged Shaylynn Nichole Capers of Summerville with the incident. Two more charges, failing to stop for blue lights and possession of a stolen vehicle, came from Hanahan Police, which had given pursuit to the car Wednesday.

Bond was set at $600,000.Β 

On Wednesday, a Hanahan Police officer ran the license plate number of a 2011 Lexus after the driver had flash the vehicle's high-beams at the officer a few times. The license plate came back as stolen, and the officer attempted to pull over the vehicle. The vehicle turned into Tanner Plantation and appeared to be pulling over, but then took off. The officer followed. When the vehicle reached Foster Creek Road, it sped off.Β

The officer came upon the vehicle over turned in the trees.Β 

Patrick Graham, 19, andΒ Martin Pinckney, 18, bothΒ of North Charleston died as a result of the wreck. The other passenger, Jimarie TravisΒ Whitehead, 19, of Charleston survived. Both Capers and Whitehead were transported to the hospital following the wreck.Β
