Suspected Anthrax Found in Summerville Neighborhood
Letter from jail to young girl had substance labeled 'anthrax,' but it was non-threatening.

Myers Mill became a hotspot of commotion Monday night as investigators looked into the possibility of anthrax infecting a home and several victims.
The threat was determined to be benign.Β
According to the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded 2015 Isabela Court after a 13-year-old girl opened a letter from an incarcerated relative. A white powdery substance and a note containing the words "anthrax" caused immediate alarm in the girl's mother.Β

Four juveniles were inside the home at the time of the incident. According to the incident report, the letter was addressed to the young girl who opened the letter.Β
The FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force was one of the responding agencies. A mobile hazmat laboratory tested the substance and found it non-threatening.Β
