Thieves Break Into Summerville Little League Shed
Equipment stolen from volunteer league, weeks before start of the season.

Thieves have broke into and stolen between $10,000 and $12,000 from a Summerville Little League shed, according to league President John Suesser.Β
The break-in occurred sometime before Tuesday night at the fields on Boundary Street, he said. The shed's lock was cut, and the league's lawn mower and other equipment were stolen. This is the second time in 11 years Suesser has volunteered as head of the league that equipment has been stolen.
"It's frustrating. You work so hard to get all this stuff secured in a shed and you think it's OK but it's not," Suesser said. "It doesn't make you feel good about your community when they're out there stealing from the kids who are playing for the league."

The all-volunteer league's season is scheduled to begin March 15. The league has insurance to replace the lost equipment, and Suesser doesn't anticipate any delays to the season.

"It still puts a bind on us. We have to replace the machinery and different items that we're going to have to use in the spring," Suesser said.Β "This is a minor setback, but we just have to try to find the person that did it."
