Woodlands Reopens as Wedding, Event Venue
Owner Tom Limehouse reopens location of former AAA Five Diamond resort.
The 1906 Greek revival mansion in historic Summerville will reopen as a wedding and event venue, according to a statement by its owner businessman Tom Limehouse.Β
Limehouse purchased the property, formerly known as the Woodlands Resort & Inn, last fall. Now operating under the name The Woodlands, the property will retain its 11 acres beneath towering pines, magnolias and moss-draped oaks.Β
"This rebirth will allow Woodlands to continue its long and storied history of romance, elegance and grand celebrations,β Limehouse said in a statement.

Woodlands Resort & Inn was a Mobile Five-Star and AAA Five Diamond award winner, before it finally shuttered its doors last year. Limehouse purchased the property fromΒ Salamander Hotels and Resorts.Β
After months of study and input from the community, Limehouse chose to focus upon the weddings and corporate events rather than dividing the property for multiple uses.

βThis property is too beautiful and special to be taken apart solely for economic convenience," Limehouse said in a statement.
While Limehouse has no plans to re-open its acclaimed restaurant, he does envision the inn reopening on a limited basis for corporate and wedding guests.
βWith the Charleston area being the premier wedding destination in the country, the demand for luxury venues with lodging is increasing. Our unique capability to allow the entire estate including eighteen bedrooms to be taken over for an entire week or weekend should make the Mansion at Woodlands very attractive for both destination brides and corporate planners," Limehouse said.
