Rapid City Awarded $4.9 Million EPA Grant to Expand Recycling Infrastructure (mitchellnow.com) — Rapid City is getting more than $4.9 million from the EPA to expand local recycling programs and upgrade waste management equipment, with officials expecting to double recycling rates. The grant will help launch a new commercial recycling program, improve material quality, and support local jobs as part of a nationwide Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling initiative.
   

2. Rapid City Regional Airport terminal expansion not interfering with passenger experience (kotatv.com) — Rapid City Regional Airport is in the middle of a major terminal expansion, but officials say passengers shouldn’t see big disruptions yet. A revamped TSA checkpoint should be ready by March, with ticket counter upgrades finishing in 2027 and a larger second phase adding gates and amenities once funding is secured.
   

3. Highway Patrol identifies those involved in Pennington County Crash (kbhbradio.com) — A two-vehicle crash on an icy stretch of Sheridan Lake Road, about 13 miles west of Rapid City, left one Montana woman dead and two Rapid City residents injured. Highway Patrol says the westbound pickup crossed the center line and hit an eastbound Jeep head-on, and investigators note that the two people in the truck were not wearing seat belts.
   

4. Former South Dakota National Guard adjutant general announces bid for state house of representatives (kotatv.com) — A former South Dakota National Guard adjutant general from Rapid City is running for the District 33 seat in the state House, entering the Republican primary. Jeff Marlette highlights his long Guard service, work in education, and time as a West River director for Sen. Mike Rounds, and says he’ll focus on property tax reform, strong schools, and a healthy business climate.
