NASHVILLE, TN -- A Tennessee state legislator wants to bar fraternities and sororities from operating at the state's public colleges and universities.
Rep. John DeBerry, a Memphis Democrat, introduced a bill saying "fraternities and sororities shall not be recognized or otherwise permitted to associate with, or operate on the campus of, any state institution of higher education."
The bill does not prohibit honors societies or professional organizations and is aimed at social Greek letter organizations and their analogues.
