Empowering Neighborhood Partnerships needs at least $25,000 to keep its Lafayette Street location open, where residents can pick up food, diapers, hygiene items, and more at no cost. Volunteers fear many neighbors would lose a vital safety net. 
2. Driver arrested following roadside fight over merging on I-440 in South Nashville, police say (wsmv.com) — A November road-rage incident on I-440 in South Nashville led to charges against a 40-year-old driver accused of ramming another vehicle and repeatedly punching the other motorist. Metro police arrested him Thursday on multiple assault and vandalism counts, and he’s due in court in early February. The case stems from a dispute over merging near the I-440/I-65 split.
3. Bankruptcy judge approves $13.45M sale of Nashville's Plaza Mariachi (tennessean.com subscription) — A U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge has approved the $13.45 million sale of Plaza Mariachi, the beloved South Nashville cultural hub known for live music, food, and shops. The buyer plans to lease the property back to the current operators so it can stay open, while most proceeds go to pay off bank debts and overdue property taxes.
4. Nashville Boy Scout troop loses $10,000 in equipment after trailer theft (wsmv.com) — A longtime Boy Scout troop based at South End United Methodist Church in South Nashville is reeling after thieves stole their trailer packed with about $10,000 in camping gear. With most of their equipment gone and no security footage, leaders are weighing whether to scale back next year’s trips while launching a GoFundMe and planning tighter security for a replacement trailer.
