Here are the top three stories in Franklin today:

  1. The City of Franklin will be celebrating Arbor Day today at Pinkerton Park from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The family-friendly celebration will begin with storytime at the library followed by tree planting, demonstrations, and more. Attendees will also be able to participate in a scavenger hunt and giveaways as well as other activities like a photo booth and craft station.   2. Franklin officials announced that the city will be observing Franklin Water Week from Apr. 30 through May 6 in partnership with local nonprofit Cumberland River Compact. Mayor Ken Moore said that the goal of the week-long observance is to β€œprovide the public with the tools to be smart, impactful stewards of their watershed, with an understanding that education, restoration, and public outreach all contribute to keeping our water resources healthy.” (williamsonherald.com)
  3. Franklin-based MAPCO Express Inc., which operates around 300 convenience stores in multiple states, has announced that it will be selling its portfolio to two separate buyers. The Quebec-based parent company of Circle K, Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., will be purchasing 112 sites. Majors Management LLC is purchasing the MAPCO My Rewards loyalty program, its brand, and the rest of the MAPCO locations, most of which are in Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia. (CS News)
