Firefighters were dispatched to the 3,000-square foot, single-story home on St. Stephens Way at 7:14 PM, after a neighbor observed fire and called 911. The homeowner was not home at the time of the fire. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the eaves on all sides of the house, and heavy fire in the attic, which contributed to a lengthy operation.Â
One firefighter sustained a minor injury and was taken to Williamson Medical Center for treatment. The surviving dog was treated on scene by firefighters with pet medical equipment they carry, and transported to an emergency veterinary clinic for continued care. Franklin Fire Marshal Andy King estimated damage at $300,000.
