Here are the top three stories today in Franklin:
- Officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department arrested 50-year-old Ronald Dickens Jr. on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for threatening people including a McDonald's employee. On Tuesday, Mar. 21, reports were made about a man in a blue jacket waving a knife around and threatening people in the McDonald's parking lot on Nolensville Pike. When police arrived at the scene, they found a man who matched the description and detained him. As of yesterday, Dickens was still being held in prison on a $10,000 bond. (WKRN News 2)
- Elvis Fest will be returning to The Factory at Franklin from Mar. 30 to Apr. 2 which will include 10 shows celebrating the legacy of Elvis as well as three late-night parties at SpringHill Suites by Marriott Cool Springs. Elvis is getting his newest surge in the spotlight after the release of the "Elvis" movie which was nominated for Best Picture at the 95th Academy Awards and at the 7th annual Celebration of Music and Legacy of Elvis Presley. Hosted by Tom Brown, this year's fest will feature several special guests and Elvis tribute champions from across the world. (Tennessean)
- Plans are in place to relocate a historic school, Lee-Buckner, from Duplex Road in Spring Hill to preserve it and share its story with future generations. The Rosenwald School was built in the 1920s to educate African American children before desegregation, and there were about 5,000 of these schools built. After integration in the mid-60s, many of these schools would have closed, but now the school's preservation is being prioritized to bring it back to its former glory. (News Channel 5 Nashville)
