- Gabrielle Hanson, Franklin Alderman At-Large, is making headlines as on Jun. 8 she emailed Nashville International Airport (BNA) President Doug Kreulen to complain that the airport was offering financial support to Franklin's upcoming Juneteenth festival, stating that concerned citizens were prepared to retaliate against the airport board for its support of "radical agendas." Hanson went further to say that locals were "prepared to post publicly and link this support to each and every board member, along with their business interests so that the public will know that the board of BNA is financially supporting, and in agreement with, radical social justice agenda's in towns where they literally should have no voice." Franklin's Juneteenth celebration is slated for Jun. 17, and is sponsored by Visit Franklin and Mars Petcare among others. (Williamson Herald)
- Williamson County residents can now text 911 instead of calling in an emergency situation. According to Jill Burgen, Williamson County Emergency Management Agency spokeswoman, "It's a location-based feature so the cell carriers will ping the tower closest to where your phone is and send you to that closest dispatch center." Emergency management personnel are excited that the text feature may offer hearing and speech-impaired people more support in crisis, or a safer option for people who want to alert help without bringing more attention to themselves. - New Williamson County District Attorney Stacey B. Edmonson was sworn into office on Thursday, Jun. 8, after the tragic death of former DA Kim Helper in March. Governor Bill Lee appointed Edmonson in May, and her oath of office was administered by Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Jeff Bivins. Before being sworn in as Williamson Co. DA, Edmonson served the 21st Judicial District for 19 years prior, with her most recent post being as Deputy District Attorney General, where she served for 12 of her 19 years in the 21st District.
