Here are the top three stories today in Franklin:
- Justin Kanew, founder and editor of the Tennessee Holler, reported that his Williamson County home was targeted in a shooting last Saturday night while his family was asleep. Kanew's website is known for progressive-leaning journalistic content. The Williamson County Sheriff's office is currently investigating the alleged shooting and urging anyone with information to come forward. (Williamson Herald)
- A man who was hit by a car on the side of the road on Interstate 65 in Franklin last month is still fighting for his life, but his family has hopes of bringing him home to Mexico to be with his loved ones. Darinel Alfonso Ruiz-Castillo is currently paralyzed from the chest down at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and has undergone several surgeries. Ruiz-Castillo and his brother support their parents in Mexico, and a GoFundMe has been created to help with their expenses. (WKRN)
- High Hopes Development Center will hold its inclusive fashion show, Runway of Hope, in memory of Evelyn Dieckhause, one of the victims of the Covenant School Shooting. Dieckhause, 9, was the daughter of a High Hopes occupational therapist. The event will feature 25 children with and without special needs showcasing adaptive clothing lines. The event will take place on Apr. 16 at The Factory at Franklin's Liberty Hall, and tickets can be purchased online. (Williamson Source)
