Here are the top three stories today in Franklin:

  1. A study by Storage Cafe has found that Franklin offers the perfect blend of suburban living with city-like amenities. Franklin is known for its preserved Victorian architecture, shops, restaurants, and various entertainment events that bring the community together. The suburb's strong business sector and high median household income also contribute to its appeal, earning it fourth place in the top 100 best suburbs for urban-like amenities. (WKRN News 2)
  2. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) mobile household hazardous waste collection service will be available in Williamson, Washington, and Warren counties on Apr. 22. This program allows residents to dispose of household hazardous waste, such as cleaning fluids and pesticides, properly and for free. (TN Gov)
  3. James Fox, a firefighter with 40 years of experience, including 20 years with the Franklin Fire Department, is retiring. He served as a firefighter in the military for 20 years before retiring at the rank of Technical Sergeant in 2002. Franklin Fire Chief Glenn Johnson praised Fox's expertise and contributions to the department, and Fox said he plans to travel and go antiquing with his wife during retirement. (WSMV News)
