Here are the top three stories in Franklin today:

  1. A man and a woman jumped from a second-story window to escape a house fire on Ewingville Drive in Franklin over the weekend. The blaze broke out shortly before 1 a.m. on Saturday, Apr. 29, with the back of the house fully engulfed in flames by the time crews arrived. The cause of the fire was determined to be the spontaneous combustion of oily rags on the back porch, and the home was deemed a total loss, with an estimated $600,000 worth of damage. (WKRN 2 News)
  2. Musician TobyMac and his wife, Amanda McKeehan, have proposed the Middle Eight development south of Liberty Pike and west of Daniels Drive. It is projected to provide over 250 housing units to Franklin’s growing arts and entertainment district, including single-family homes, townhomes, duplexes, and apartments. The plan includes two multifamily buildings, with affordable housing for those with an annual income of roughly $50,000 - $60,000. The development will be further discussed at future BOMA and FMPC meetings, with some concerns raised by neighbors regarding the height of the buildings. (Williamson Herald)
  3. Three new homes have been listed for sale in the Franklin area. Available properties range from a 2,908-square-foot, four-bed, three-bath home for $739,998 to an $8.5 million home with four beds, seven baths, and 8,288 square feet. Get all the property details at the link. (Patch)
