Here are the top three stories today in Franklin:
- Earlier this week, construction began for a 546-home development in Franklin near Interstate 65. One goal of 'Poplar Farms' is to preserve greenspace in the area according to developers. These single-family homes will sit on 300 acres of land leaving 125 more acres free, leaving about 40 percent of the land undeveloped. In addition to the construction of these homes, Market Street will be extended to Highway 96 and Murfreesboro Road in hopes to alleviate traffic on Clovercroft Road. The goal is for Poplar Farms homes to be open for sale in early 2025. (Tennessean)
- A shooting occurred early Wednesday morning in South Nashville resulting in one female juvenile being critically injured and one juvenile male on the run as he fled the scene after the shooting. Around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday morning, the incident occurred at the 3900 block of Atkins Drive at a residence. It is known that the two involved in the incident are acquaintances, but the exact relationship is not yet determined. Witnesses of the incident say that an altercation occurred between the two prior to the shooting but no exact details or information was released yet. More information is to come from the incident. - Franklin soon will be welcoming Edley's to Williamson County with the restaurant's first location expected to open in Berry Farms sometime later this month. The BBQ restaurant will be featuring all the things its supporters love as well as patio and outdoor dining with a fireplace, take-out ordering with Uber Eats, and for the first time ever, a drive-thru to make the take-out experience even easier. Finding a home in Williamson County has been a goal of the restaurant for Newman for a while and he is happy to find a home in Berry Farms. Edley's is still looking for team members to deliver Southern hospitality for all guests that walk through the door, for more details you can click here. (Williamson Source)
