Here are the top three stories today in Franklin:
- Franklin is welcoming a new workout facility to town with the grand opening of Workout Anything 24/7 Fitness Center on Monday. This family-owned center located on Columbia Avenue is open all day every day to meet the workout needs of any schedule. The gym features a full weight room with platforms, free weights, and machines, as well as a sauna, tanning services, redlight therapy, and personal and group training options. (williamsonherald.com)
- On Wednesday morning, Randy Levi appeared in court on accusations of killing Frugal MacDoogal security guard Robert Meek last June. Levi was accused of disarming and then shooting Meek in the Nashville-based liquor store last June before firing at metro officers inside the store before being apprehended; Levi was also injured in the incident by officers. Levi pleaded not guilty to all charges against him, including multiple counts of attempted murder and weapon offenses as well as first-degree murder; he is expected back in court in July. (WSMV 4)
- A Franklin firefighter is currently being treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after being seriously injured in a training exercise on Tuesday. According to the fire chief, the firefighter fell from the second floor when trying to transition from the ladder to the second-story roof at the Franklin Fire Department Training Center on Century Court. Both the city of Franklin and the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the accident; as of Wednesday, the firefighter currently remains in the hospital receiving treatment.
