Here are the top three stories in Franklin today:
- The Franklin Theater and Tennessee Vacation hosted the Tennessee Songwriters Week Showcase on Thursday night. Singer and songwriter Sarah Hardwig was the ultimate winner. She will continue on to perform with other showcase winners from around Tennessee at Bluebird Cafe on Mar. 26. (Visit Franklin, TN via Facebook)
- A local organization in nearby Brentwood is gearing up to send volunteers to help the victims of the recent earthquakes in Turkey. Home Force International is sending its first team of six volunteers to Turkey this weekend and will send a second team sometime in the next two weeks. The volunteers will help to build emergency shelters, and the organization is seeking help in funding the first 100 emergency shelters, which cost around $500 each. (WSMV 4)
- Franklin animal shelters have many pets available for adoption, including dogs and cats of all ages. The link features a list of some of the available pets waiting for their new forever homes in Franklin. Available dogs include Sidney Poitier, Woodstock, and more. (Franklin Patch)
