- Franklin Police Chief Deborah Faulkner released a statement regarding the video of Tyre Nichols being beat by former Memphis police officers. Faulkner said, "The horrific video from Memphis left members of the FPD shocked and saddened. The outrageous actions of the former MPD Officers violated the law and their oath of office, the lack of humanity and professionalism is beyond shameful." Faulkner, along with the Franklin Police Department, want the community to know they value each and every individual they serve and are continuing to work hard to gain the community's trust and confidence. The department also sends their heartfelt condolences to the family of Tyre Nichols and those who loved him. (Williamson Source)
- Irene Torres, 24, was found dead inside her ex-boyfriend's closet at the 865 Bellevue Apartments. It was reported the couple got into an argument outside of Torres' home in Old Hickory Sunday between 1:30 and 2 a.m., which ended in Dwayn Herrelle Jr., 28, stabbing her to death. Security footage showed Herrelle leaving the home with Torres' body and taking it to his apartment. Authorities found Torres' body in a plastic container inside the closet. Herrelle has been arrested and charged for the murder. (WSMV 4)
- FOX 17 is in an official Code Red alert for today and tomorrow as freezing temperatures are expected to cause an icing event. The weather advisory is in effect for a lot of Middle Tennessee and all of Southern Kentucky. The weather calls for rain, but with the low temperatures the chance for ice rain and tough commuting both Tuesday and Wednesday morning increases. The temperature will rise above freezing levels during the day, but be mindful earlier in the morning and don't forget to pack your umbrella! (WZTV)
