Here are the top three stories today in Franklin:

  1. Williamson County Commissioner Christopher Richards is hosting a town hall meeting on Wednesday, Mar. 8, in the auditorium of the Williamson County Administrative Complex. While it is being held to educate county commissioners on the equipment and voting processes in Williamson County, the meeting will be open to the public. Questions from Williamson County residents are encouraged. The event is slated for 6:30 p.m. and is set to conclude at approximately 8 p.m. (Williamson Herald)
  2. Williamson County deputies seek assistance locating a man with a long criminal history after leading them on a high-speed car chase Friday evening. After exhibiting suspicious behavior at a traffic stop, a K-9 was brought to the scene and detected the smell of drugs on Warren Shannon, 37. Shannon ran from deputies across an interstate and then led them on a chase with speeds close to 120 miles per hour. Deputies canceled the pursuit to avoid the risk of hurting other motorists and later discovered that Shannon has a long criminal history dating back to 2003 for crimes like theft, aggravated burglary, evading arrest, and prohibited weapons. Anyone who sees Shannon or knows of his whereabouts is urged to call (615) 790-5560. (WKRN)
  3. Over in Nashville, a parent was arrested Thursday night after allegedly making a threat to his child's teacher over an assignment. The Metro Nashville Police Department said Jacob Majok, 48, arrived at the school at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday to pick up his daughter who refused to do an assignment related to the book "PET." Majok was upset by the content of the book and said he would return with other parents and "blood would be shed" if the school continued to teach it, according to police. Majok was charged with issuing a threat of "mass violence involving a school." (WKRN)
