BLOOD ASSURANCE TO OPEN ITS FIRST DAVIDSON COUNTY DONATION CENTER
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Dec. 7, 2021) – Blood Assurance will open the doors to its first brick-and-mortar donation center in Davidson County on Tuesday, Dec. 14.
Located in Hermitage’s Oakwood Commons Shopping Center at 4686 Lebanon Pk., the facility will offer individuals from eastern Davidson County and western Wilson County the opportunity to donate lifesaving blood, plasma, platelets and double red blood cells. The 2,400-square-foot building features three donor screening rooms, six donor beds and a refreshment area.
“We are ecstatic to be opening our first blood donation center in Davidson County,” according to Blood Assurance CEO, J.B. Gaskins. “This is a commitment to the hospitals we supply and to those in the community who wish to have a convenient place to donate blood products in order to help the patients those hospitals treat.”
The opening of the Davidson County building marks another exciting chapter in Blood Assurance’s expansion into the region. Over the last few years, the Chattanooga-based non-profit has opened donation centers in Clarksville, Columbia, Cookeville, Cool Springs and Tullahoma. A second Davidson County donation center is scheduled to open early next year in Bellevue.
“Our job is to save lives and with this new, strategic location, it will allow us to build on that in Middle Tennessee,” Gaskins said.
Blood donors will be able to donate in Hermitage during the following hours:
Monday: Closed
Tuesday: 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
Wednesday: 8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m.
Thursday: 11 a.m.- 7 p.m.
Friday: 8:30 a.m.- 3 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m.- 2 p.m. (open every other Saturday)
Sunday: 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. (open once a month)
Donors can schedule an appointment online at bloodassurance.org/schedule, or by calling 800-962-0628, or texting BAGIVE to 999777. Walk-ins will be accepted.
To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good health. Donors are asked to drink plenty of fluids — avoiding caffeine — and eat a meal that is rich in iron prior to donating.
