Here are the top three stories today in Franklin:
- A 48-year-old man was arrested on aggravated assault charges after throwing an elderly woman into traffic Sunday. Police said they responded to the alleged road rage incident on Old Hickory Boulevard in Nashville at about 4:45 p.m. According to one of the victims, Billy Johnson was driving aggressively and nearly rear-ended him before he got out of his vehicle. The two men began to argue, and the 80-year-old woman got out of the car to break up the fight, police said. The woman was transported to TriStar Skyline Medical Center for internal head bleeding and severe head trauma. (WSMV 4)
- Registration for Young Scholars Institute is now open. Young Scholars Institute, a summer camp consisting of two independent weeks, is slated for Jun. 5-9 and Jun. 12-16 at Freedom Middle School. Sponsored by the Franklin Special School District, YSI offers challenging, exploratory classes designed for independent and highly motivated learners. - Friends of Williamson County Animal Center (FOWCAC) will host its annual βAn Evening with Friendsβ fundraiser on Thursday, Jun. 22 at The Factory at Franklin. The event, slated to begin at 6:00 p.m., will directly benefit programs and services at Williamson County Animal Center (WCAC), and community pets in Williamson County.
