Bays Mountain to rebuild floating bridge with state grant (wjhl.com) — Bays Mountain Park in Kingsport has secured a $100,000 state tourism grant to replace its aging wooden floating bridge on the reservoir, a popular spot for local walkers. A new bridge will be built beside the old one over up to two years, allowing visitors to watch construction progress before the original structure is removed and the new span opens.

Kingsport BMA to vote on MeadowView Task Force (wjhl.com) — Kingsport’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen is set to vote on creating a task force to rethink how the MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center serves local residents. Kingsport Aquatic Center hosts Let's Glow Swimming event – Kingsport, TN (kingsporttn.gov) — Families in Kingsport can kick off the New Year at a glowing nighttime pool party at the Kingsport Aquatic Center on January 3, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Attendance is capped at 200, with discounted pre-registration and higher at-the-door pricing, and all attendees must pay admission whether they swim or not.

Roosevelt Elementary students gifted tablets (wjhl.com) — Kingsport elementary students at Theodore Roosevelt Elementary just received new tablets, thanks to the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce’s Project Hope and local donors. The annual effort, which has previously provided shoes and other gifts, also sent families home with meals, aiming to make this holiday season brighter for kids who may rely on this as their biggest gift.

Kingsport PD: Morristown man faces murder, child rape charges in 14-month-old's death (wate.com) — Kingsport Police say a 20-year-old Morristown man has been indicted on multiple murder, child abuse, and child rape charges after a 14‑month‑old boy was found unresponsive on Eastline Drive and later died at Indian Path Medical Center. The alleged crimes occurred in October 2024 at Miller Village Apartments, and the suspect is currently being held in Sullivan County Jail.
