• Earthquakes strike Kentucky, Tennessee over the weekend (fox17.com) — Knoxville residents may have felt some shaking this weekend, as the USGS confirmed a 1.8 magnitude earthquake in the city on Saturday and a stronger 3.1 quake in central Kentucky on Sunday. The National Weather Service in Knoxville also received reports of a loud boom and ground movement tied to the regional seismic activity.

• Wanda Davis honored with Wanda's Bench (knoxtntoday.com) — Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee has honored dedicated volunteer Wanda Davis with “Wanda’s Bench,” created from recycled bottle caps outside the facility’s volunteer entrance. After logging more than 1,500 hours since 2020, she continues helping with food boxes, donations, and Mobile Pantries, and Knoxville-area residents are invited to thank her and support Second Harvest through donations or volunteering.

• Grant would develop, construct new UC State Veterans Cemetery (cnhi.com) — Tennessee has secured full federal funding to build a new Upper Cumberland State Veterans Cemetery in White County, expanding the state’s network of no-cost burial sites for veterans and families. Once open, it will join the two existing East Tennessee State Veterans Cemeteries in Knoxville, further reinforcing Knoxville’s role as a regional hub for veterans’ services and honors.
