Fentanyl-Laced Heroin Leads To ODs, Arrest: TBI

A Rutherford County man was arrested on drug charges following two non-fatal fentanyl-laced heroin overdoses.

MURFREESBORO, TN — Two non-fatal heroin overdoses on Friday in Rutherford County sparked an investigation that ended with an arrest.

After the pair of overdoses, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation crime lab tested heroin recovered from the scenes and found the drug was laced with fentanyl. The TBI has recently increased its efforts to combat the opioid additive and held a press conference last month warning that fentanyl-adulterated drugs were becoming more widespread.

Working with Murfreesboro Police and the state board of probation and parole, the TBI said it traced the source of the heroin to a home on Academy Drive and arrested Richard Dale Bain, 35, and charged him with possession of a Schedule I drug.
