La Vergne Explores Opioid Lawsuit

La Vergne's city council wants to know how much the city has spent on opioid overdoses and may join a lawsuit against drug manufacturers.

LA VERGNE, TN -- The City of La Vergne wants to know how much its spent as a result of opioid overdoses and it wants to know if it can recover that cash.

The city's board of mayor and aldermen voted unanimously Monday night to engage Nashville attorney Mark Chalos to estimate how much the city has spent because of opioid-related deaths and crimes. Once Chalos has that figure, the board will determine if the city should join a lawsuit seeking damages from opioid manufacturers and distributors.

Chalos is representing Metro Nashville and Smith County in similar lawsuits.
