La Vergne Grows 6 Percent, Special Census Finds

La Vergne stands to gain nearly a quarter-million dollars in state money after the special census found 6 percent growth.

LA VERGNE, TN -- There are 34,423 La Vergnians according to the recently completed special census.

That's 6 percent growth since the 2010 federal census, officials say, which could be a boon to the city coffers, bringing in an estimated $233,045 more in state shared revenue annually.

“I would personally like to thank all of the city employees who put in many of hours of work over the last few months to get the Special Census completed. From going door-to-door, to logging information, and making phone calls, every person who volunteered to help really made a difference," Mayor Dennis Waldron said.
