La Vergne, Smyrna SWAT Training In Lake Forest Friday

Residents of the Lake Forest area should not be alarmed if they see SWAT members in the neighborhood Friday afternoon. It's just an exercise

LA VERGNE, TN — Don't be alarmed at the sight of SWAT Teams in the Lake Forest area Friday afternoon. The La Vergne and Smyrna police departments' teams will be conducting a joint training exercise in the neighborhood starting at 2 p.m October 13.

The exercise is set to wrap up no later than 7 p.m. Residents may observe SWAT Team members throughout the area dressed in paramilitary uniforms and carrying weapons. These officers will be clearly marked with Police/SWAT patches and insignias. These Officers may be on foot or in unmarked Police vehicles.

There is also the possibility of loud explosion sounds in the area from distraction devices. There will also be large presence of Police Officers and vehicles near the intersection of Stones River Road and Lake Forest Drive.

"The training will appear very real and the officers involved will be taking the training very seriously," La Vergne Police said in a press release.

Any questions concerning this training should be directed to La Vergne SWAT Commander Lt. Kaul at 615-287-8642. Concerns and questions during the exercise should be directed to La Vergne Police dispatch at 615-793-7744. Callers should then asked to be transferred to Lt. Kaul.
