Rutherford County Unemployment Down Again In August
The unemployment rate dropped in all 95 Tennessee counties, with Rutherford's down 0.4 percent in August.

NASHVILLE, TN — The unemployment rate in Rutherford County was 2.9 percent in August, down 0.4 percent from the July number, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development. The jobless figure fell in all 95 of Tennessee's counties.
That gives Rutherford County tied for the third-lowest unemployment rate in the state with Wilson, Sumner, and Sevier counties and 0.2 percent below the leaders of Davidson and Williamson counties. Nine of the 10 lowest county numbers were in Middle Tennessee. None of the state's 95 counties have an unemployment rate above 6 percent.

In the last year, the Rutherford County jobless number has fallen 1.3 percent.
The city-level rate in La Vergne was 3.1 percent, down 0.3 from June, and in Smyrna 2.7 percent, down 0.4.

The state rate, reported last week, is 3.3 percent, down 0.1 percent from July's adjusted figure.
