Smyrna Apartment Fire Displaces 47
Two buildings at Smyrna's Chalet Apartments will have to be condemned after a fire that took the homes of 47 people.

SMYRNA, TN — Nearly four dozen people are without a home after a fire struck two buildings at Smyrna's Chalet Apartments Thursday afternoon.
City officials say 15 or 16 families totaling 47 people lost their homes, as the two buildings are likely to be condemned after the blaze.
The Red Cross is in place to assist the families, who will be able to stay at Highland Heights Church of Christ. Smyrna Ready Mix will be taking donations of clothing, toys, books and other items from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturdays at their locations.

A number of the families have young babies, but amazing no one was seriously injured, though two were treated for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
