Wheelie-Popping Prompts La Vergne Pursuit

Two men were doing wheelies on a busy La Vergne road, police said, leading to a chase.

LA VERGNE, TN -- La Vergne Police say one man is on the run following a chase Friday night that began after a pair of motorcyclists were spotted popping wheelies in a busy roadway.

Officers said the duo were executing the tricks at the Stones River Road and Murfreesboro Road intersection, one of the city's busiest, posing a danger to the driver. When police began pursuing them, the motorcyclists tore off in different directions.

One of the motorcyclists got away because police had to stop the chase for the safety of other drivers. The second motorcyclist wrecked his bike where Stones River turns into Vaughnwood Drive.
