This year’s honorees include Marine veteran Hank Brown, downtown business owner Joy Carver, longtime teacher Beverly Harris, and workforce partner Blount Partnership, all recognized for strengthening Maryville’s schools and community.
   

• Maryville school board talks elevators and buses (thedailytimes.com) — Maryville City Schools just approved major upgrades to seven aging elevators and a new wheelchair-accessible bus, moves that directly affect student safety and accessibility. Work on the elevators will start this summer, and the new 66-passenger bus for students with disabilities is slated for next school year. • ‘A joyful celebration' at Our Lady of Fatima (etcatholic.org) — Our Lady of Fatima parish, which began in Maryville-Alcoa-Blount County in 1950, has celebrated its 75th anniversary with a bilingual Mass and dinner highlighting its roots on Ellis Avenue in Maryville and growth to 1,500 families.
