Shelby County School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Shelby County is August 7. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Shelby County School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

• 8/7: First Day for Students

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)
• 7/14: Parent Conferences (3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.)

October

• 10/6: First Quarter Ends
• 10/9 - 10/13: No School (Fall Break)
• 10/16: Second Quarter Begins

November

• 11/10: No School (Veterans Day)
• 11/22 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving)

December

• 12/18 - 12/20: Semester Exams
• 12/20: Second Quarter Ends
• 12/21 - 12/29: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1 - 1/5: No School (Winter Break)
• 1/8: Students Return, Third Quarter Begins
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)

February

• 2/15: Parent Conferences (3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.)

March

• 3/9: Third Quarter Ends
• 3/12 - 3/16: No School (Spring Break)
• 3/19: Fourth Quarter Begins
• 3/30: No School (Spring Holiday)

May

• 5/22 - 5/24: Semester Exams
• 5/24: Last Day for Students
