• Winter weather adds urgency to Helene recovery efforts in Cocke County (wate.com) — Families in Newport and wider Cocke County are still living in campers more than a year after Hurricane Helene, and looming winter weather is making their situation more urgent. The Cocke County Long Term Recovery Group is racing to winterize those campers and rebuild homes, but they need more volunteers, funding, and skilled tradespeople to keep vulnerable residents safe and warm.
