• Exciting start to district play for Oliver Springs (themountainpress.com) — Oliver Springs basketball opened district play with hard-fought overtime losses to Oneida, in a league that also includes Wartburg Central and other Highway 27 schools. The Lady BobCats fell 52–48 despite 18 points from Kylie Barger, while the BobCats dropped a 61–56 OT heartbreaker after a strong comeback led by Ethan Jones and Zachary Hamby.
   

• Rita Faye Swint, Wartburg (bbbtv12.com) — Wartburg friends and neighbors are mourning the passing of lifelong caregiver and Mossy Grove Baptist Church member Rita Faye Swint, who died at her Wartburg home on December 14. Visitation is Thursday evening, December 18, at Schubert’s Funeral Home in Wartburg, with graveside services Friday morning at Mossy Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
