North Texas-based Biscuit Bar restaurant closing all locations immediately (wfaa.com) — Abilene diners are losing a breakfast option as The Biscuit Bar shuts down its local restaurant along with all other locations, effective immediately. Owners say rising costs, supply chain issues, and uncooperative landlords derailed a planned sale, leaving the small chain unable to keep operating.
   

5. Hardin-Simmons honors Jane Beard for her lifelong commitment to law and philanthropy (ktxs.com) — Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene is honoring lawyer and philanthropist Jane Beard with an honorary Doctor of Laws for her decades of service and grantmaking across the Big Country. Beard, who once relied on Hardin-Simmons for law school guidance and studied at Abilene Christian University, says the recognition is especially meaningful given her family’s humble educational beginnings.
