Greg Abbott stands firm on decision to install floating border barrier
Texas Governor Challenges Biden Administration Over Border Barrier

Texas - Texas Governor Greg Abbott has firmly stood by his recent decision to implement a large-scale floating barrier along the Rio Grande, with the aim to halt the illegal entry of undocumented immigrants into the United States.
Addressing the Republican county chairs, Abbott stated with conviction, "I will do whatever I have to do to defend our state from the invasion of the Mexican drug cartels and others who have tried to come into our country illegally, and I will protect our sovereignty," as reported by Fox 7 based in Austin.
Abbott's steadfast proclamation comes shortly after the US Department of Justice launched legal actions, filing a lawsuit to dismantle an approximately 1,000-foot line of prominent orange buoys, akin in size to wrecking balls, spread across the river that forms the border between the United States and Mexico. The Biden administration maintains that this measure not only breaches legal standards but also instigates both humanitarian and environmental issues.

Erected near Eagle Pass, a town widely recognized as a major entry point for illegal border crossings, this innovative but controversial mechanism was introduced earlier this month. Governor Abbott has underscored its flexibility and scalability, noting that it can be repositioned and extended to safeguard areas marked as “hot spots” where individuals seeking asylum attempt unauthorized entry.
As Abbott stated, "It’s called operation hold the line. They are holding the line and ensuring that nobody enters the state of Texas illegally."

Responding to the legal actions initiated by the Biden administration, Abbott asserted, "He gave me a lawsuit, and by God, Joe Biden, we will see you in court."
In a direct challenge to the federal government, Abbott posed, "I challenge the federal government to show that they have spent that much money in the state of Texas on the border under Joe Biden as president.”
