1. North Texas EMS crews started carrying blood. It started saving lives within hours. (wfaa.com) — Arlington paramedics are now carrying whole blood on select EMS units, and it’s already credited with saving a new mother’s life just days after launch. Through a partnership with Medical City Arlington and AMR, crews can transfuse O-positive blood in the field or en route to the hospital, giving trauma and medical patients a better chance of surviving severe blood loss.

Arlington sex trafficker who threatened her victims gets 30 years in prison (star-telegram.com) — A 25-year-old North Texas woman has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after Arlington police and Tarrant County prosecutors pursued human trafficking and related charges against her. Investigators say she recruited girls into prostitution, kept most of their earnings, and used threats about housing and exposure to control them. She ultimately pleaded guilty to aggravated promotion of prostitution as part of a plea deal.

Arlington family begs ICE to release man so he can care for his disabled son (star-telegram.com) — An Arlington family is urging federal immigration officials to release 62-year-old Maher Tarabishi so he can resume caring for his adult son, who has a severe neuromuscular disease. Relatives say Maher is Wael’s primary caregiver and that Wael has already been hospitalized twice since his father’s October detention. Supporters gathered outside Methodist Mansfield Medical Center, appealing to national leaders for his release.
